What do I do first in Warrior Cats: Clans of the Forest?

Start in the cat creator: pick your Clan’s look with fur patterns, colors, markings, ears, eyes, and whiskers, then name your cat and set its nature. You always play as a warrior — other roles from the books (medicine cat, etc.) are not playable. After creation you enter your Clan’s territory and begin its unique story campaign.

Which Clan should I pick?

Pick the territory and fighting style that fits you — the choice locks in your campaign:

Clan Territory Fighting identity
ThunderClan Dense forest Bold, direct attacks
RiverClan Marshlands Flowing, adaptive techniques
ShadowClan Dark pine swamps Stealth and deception
WindClan Open moors Speed and agility

Every Clan campaign covers the same Lake Territories from a different point of view, with different prophecies, rivals, and challenges.

How does the core gameplay loop work?

The loop is quest → hunt/fight → earn reputation → rank up:

  1. Take quests around your camp and territory to gain favor with your Clan.
  2. Hunt prey (mice, squirrels, and more) and fight off predators to train your cat.
  3. Win turn-based battles — 3v3 stance-based fights.
  4. Rise through the ranks and unlock new combat moves as your legend grows.

What are the game modes?

Three modes ship at launch (version 1.0): Prophecy Mode — four full story campaigns, one per Clan; Defender Mode — a single-run survival gauntlet against the game’s fiercest enemies; and Skirmish Mode — asynchronous online battles against other players’ cats.

How do I get stronger?

Level and training raise your base stats (which depend on your Clan), while the 75 unique combat moves are discovered and unlocked through play. StarClan-granted ancestor attacks add a supernatural layer for big fights. For the toughest encounters, read our predators and boss battles guide before you engage.

Is there multiplayer?

There is no real-time co-op campaign. Multiplayer is asynchronous: in Skirmish Mode you battle other players online, and you can visit friends’ dens asynchronously to show off your customized cat and decorations.

Frequently asked questions

Can I play a medicine cat or leader?
No — you are locked into the warrior role. The game is built around the warrior’s journey from newcomer to legend, with rank ceremonies marking your progress.
Does the game follow the books' story?
The campaigns are original stories set in the book universe’s Lake Territories, featuring both original characters and iconic cats from the series.
